iPhone Duo features explained
What each new feature does, based on Apple's announcement and product pages.
Two-screen features
- Duo Preview: the outer display shows the subject a live preview of the shot.
- Duo FaceTime: nearby people can join a call on the outer display.
- Kid Cue: Peanuts animations on the outer display to draw a child's eyes to the lens.
- Smart Take: on-device AI takes the photo automatically when everyone is posed.
- Split View: two apps side by side with iOS 27. In portrait you can pin a video to the top while using another app.
Displays
- Inner: 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR, which Apple says is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max screen.
- Outer: 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR, which Apple says is 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro screen area.
- ProMotion, Always On and up to 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.
- Nano-texture finish to cut glare and reduce crease visibility.

Build & crease
- Grade 5 titanium enclosure and hinge cover; the hinge has more than 100 components.
- Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front.
- IP68 water and dust resistance (Apple notes it can decrease with normal wear).
- Apple says optically clear adhesives let the display layers glide, minimizing stress and crease. It does not say the crease is gone, so keep key wallpaper detail out of the fold zone.
Cameras
- Rear: 48MP Fusion Main (with a 2x optical-quality zoom) and 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide.
- Front: 12MP Center Stage on the outer display and an under-display camera inside.
- Video up to 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision on the Main camera.
Chip, battery & charging
- A20 Pro, built on a 2-nanometer process, with a custom vapor chamber for cooling.
- Apple's battery claims: up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display, up to 44 hours on the outer display, up to 24 hours with both displays used equally.
- Fast charging to 50% in about 20 minutes (wired) or about 30 minutes (wireless with MagSafe or Qi2).
- Apple's battery figures are lab results and real use varies.
